Background

Zeitgeist is an evolving blockchain for prediction markets and futarchy. It is built for the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem and envisions itself as a hub for prediction markets on Web3.

At the core of Zeitgeist is an open prediction market platform that is built with Polkadot’s blockchain framework, Substrate.

An open SDK enables engineers and entrepreneurs to deploy their own applications on Zeitgeist based on prediction markets.

The Challenge Zeitgeist Faced

Zeitgeist uses an on-chain treasury to incentivise teams to build on the protocol and create prediction market verticals which will benefit the network.

After numerous stress tests and testnet app runs in the last year, Zeitgeist was finally ready to launch their full application in September (2022). As this was a pivotal moment for the Zeitgeist community, Zeitgeist knew they couldn’t afford for the network to go down at such a crucial time.

However, as managing infrastructure is difficult, time-consuming and expensive, the Zeitgeist team wanted a partner that could handle this so it didn’t take their focus away from developing their core product.

How OnFinality Helped Zeitgeist

On-Demand Node Service
OnFinality provided a quick and easy solution for users to join the network via its on-demand node deployment service, allowing users to pay as they go and deploy and run dedicated nodes in a few clicks without needing to worry about setting up infrastructure.

Elastic RPC Nodes
At the same time, we provided elastic scaling nodes that could scale automatically to meet the demands so that the app would maintain stability even as there were sudden surges in user traffic.

OnFinality always responds fast and in case we expect spikes in usage (for example due to a special event), we could always reach out to OnFinality who prepared for that event.”

Network Analytics Tool
Additionally, Zeitgeist leveraged OnFinality’s network analytics to gain insight into the behaviour of the users and how effective their campaigns were, allowing them to implement more targeted and data-driven strategies moving forward.
