OnFinality Helps Launch All Polkadot Parachains

OnFinality helped launch the first five parachains on Polkadot (Acala, Moonbeam, Astar, Parallel Finance and Clover Finance) with reliable, scalable and high performance RPC API services.

OnFinality Helps Launch All Polkadot Parachains

OnFinality, Polkadot’s leading blockchain infrastructure provider, is proud to support the launch of all of the first five Polkadot parachain teams from the first block.

December 18th was a busy day for Polkadot, with all 5 parachains starting simultaneously as the first ever Polkadot Parachains. Acala, Moonbeam, Astar, Parallel Finance, and Clover Finance all worked with OnFinality to ensure their communities had reliable, scalable, and high performance RPC API services from the outset. In many cases, OnFinality was running bootnodes for these networks that allowed others to start nodes and participate.

“OnFinality has provided vital and scalable API services for Moonbeam since the early days of the Moonbase Alpha TestNet through to production. We’ve worked closely with their team and have been able to rely on them for quality infrastructure and prompt response times” said Tim Baldwin, VP of Engineering at Moonbeam. Sota Watanabe, the Founder and Director of Astar shared “Making a stable network is our highest priority now and OnFinality has already been supporting both Shiden Network and Dusty Network”, Bryan Chen, the CTO of Acala adds, “Ultimately OnFinality’s community API service allows me to sleep at night.”

Parachains are a unique aspect of the Polkadot ecosystem whereby different blockchains for different use cases can be created and then connected to the main ‘relay chain’ of the Polkadot network. As specific functionality occurs within the parachains themselves, rather than the main blockchain, it enables users to experience benefits such as faster transactions, lower costs, and more interoperability.

In order to become a parachain, projects compete to win a ‘slot’ through the process of an auction and community-backed crowdloans. These slots are then leased to the winners and community participants who back the project are rewarded with tokens.

OnFinality’s operating approach has been focused on three priorities; global performance, automated scalability and high reliability. Sam Zou, the Founder and CEO of OnFinality commented, “ We are proud and humbled that every team trusts OnFinality to be their launch partner. We’ve worked hard over the years to build our relationships with the best teams in Polkadot and we see a long future ahead. From our enhanced API service to our one-click dedicated node deployment tools OnFinality is dedicated to providing critical infrastructure to the best blockchain teams in the world so they can focus on their core business”

Further evidence of OnFinality’s traction is that Polkadot, Kusama, Karura, Moonbase Alpha, Khala, and Moonriver have each exceeded 1 billion requests through OnFinality over their lifetime. In November alone, OnFinality processed 20.2 billion requests and 14 networks have all had days where they have exceeded 10 million API requests.
